Gravitational Collapse of a Radiating Shell and Radiation Bursts
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the collapse of a self-gravitating thick shell of bosons coupled to a scalar radiation field. Due to the non-adiabaticity of the collapse, the shell (quantum) internal degrees of freedom absorb energy from the (classical) gravitational field and are excited. The excitation energy is then emitted in the form of bursts of (thermal) radiation and the corresponding backreaction on the trajectory is estimated.

Gravitational Collapse of a Radiating Shell
We study the collapse of a self-gravitating and radiating shell. Matter constituting the shell is quantized and the construction is viewed as a semiclassical model of possible black hole formation. It is shown that the shell internal degrees of freedom are excited by the quantum non-adiabaticity of the collapse and, consequently, on coupling them to a massless scalar field, the collapsing matte...

Barrabès-Israel null shell formalism is used to study the gravitational collapse of a thin cylindrical null shell in vacuum. In general the lightlike matter shell whose history coincides with a null hypersurface is characterized by a surface energy density. In addition, a gravitational impulsive wave is present on this null hypersurface whose generators admit both the shear and expansion. In ...

In this work, the gravitational collapse of a spherically symmetric null shell with the flat interior and a charged Vaidya exterior spacetimes is studied. There is no gravitational impulsive wave present on the null hypersurface which is shear-free and contracting. It follows that there is a critical radius at which the shell bounces and starts expanding.
متن کاملEnergy Flow in the Universe
A brief but broad survey is presented of the flows, forms and large-scale transformations of mass-energy in the universe, spanning a range of about twenty orders of magnitude (≈ mP lanck/mproton) in space, time and mass. Forms of energy considered include electromagnetic radiation, magnetic fields, cosmic rays, gravitational energy and gravitational radiation, baryonic matter, dark matter, vacu...
متن کاملGravitational Collapse of Perfect Fluid
The spherical gravitational collapse of a compact packet consisting of perfect fluid is studied. The spacetime outside the fluid packet is described by the out-going Vaidya radiation fluid. It is found that when the collapse has continuous self-similarity the formation of black holes always starts with zero mass, and when the collapse has no self-similarity, the formation of black holes always ...
